Atty. Rod P. Vera, LL.M

This managing partner of the firm has experience in intellectual property counselling and litigation (IP, civil and criminal cases). He handles trademark and patent applications at the Intellectual Property Philippines Office as well as copyright registrations.

Currently, he is a professor at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, School of Law and the FEU Institute of Law, teaching Copyright and Intellectual Property Law, Agency, Trust and Partnership

In 2004, he pursued a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Intellectual Property and Technology at the University of San Francisco, San Francisco, California, U.S.A.

Since 2008, Atty. Vera has been giving intellectual property seminars to stakeholders, musicians, photographers and college students. Presently, he is representing a famous photographer in a copyright infringement suit against a major daily newspaper. Atty. Vera has been successful in restoring control and often ownership of the songs of some of his musician clients.

In 2011, Atty. Vera successfully defended a client in a World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Domain (.ph) Dispute case. He is now the first lawyer ever to win a .ph domain WIPO case against a multinational corporation (WIPO Case DPH2011-0003). Atty. Vera is also a legal commentator and has written several article for ManilaSpeak.com.

Some of Atty. Vera’s entertainment law clients include the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (MOWELFUND), Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP),  Kapisanan ng mga Artistang Pilipino sa Pelikula at Telebisyon (KAPPT, Actors Guild), Olisi Films and the bands, Razorback, Wolfgang, DaPulis and the Camerawalls.

Recently, Atty. Vera has been designated as the Chairman and Convenor of Phil. Assoc. for the Advancement of Civil Liberties.
